ai-appearance
The character creator for new characters, clothing stores, barber shops and the portraits on the character screen.
ai-appearance gives characters their look. A new character first goes through the creator (face, parents, hair, clothes) alone in a private room. Later, players change clothes in clothing stores and their hair, beard and makeup at barber shops. It also makes the round portraits on AI Core's character screen.
It is basic on purpose: creator, clothing stores and barbers. It has no tattoos, saved outfits, wardrobe, clothing items or job outfit menu. For those, install a fuller clothing script (see below).
What it does in the game
- Character creator. A new character appears in a private copy of the world (nobody else sees them), at the creator spot you set, and shapes their look: parents (mother and father drive face shape and skin), face features (on 2D planes like GTA's own creator, double click resets), hair and colours, beard, brows, makeup, and clothes. Saving brings them to their spawn point. A character without a saved look goes back to the creator at the next login.
- Clothing stores. Inside a store's area, the interaction key opens the editor for clothes and accessories. The player pays per changed item.
- Barber shops. Hair, hair colours, beard, brows, chest hair, makeup, blush and lipstick. The player pays once per visit when anything changed.
- Free when nothing changed. Closing without a change costs nothing.
- Portraits. The character screen shows each character's face on its card.
- Freemode models only. The model follows the character's sex chosen at creation; the creator never changes it.
- Every save is checked on the server: the creator only for a character without a look, a shop only inside that shop and only for the parts it sells.
Installation
The AI Core txAdmin recipe installs it. By hand: put the folder in resources/[ai]/ and add ensure ai-appearance to server.cfg after ensure ai-core. It needs ai-core and the database:
add_convar_permission ai-appearance read mysql_connection_stringThe table ai_appearance_characters is created on the first start.

Works with other scripts
- AI Core reads and applies looks through its appearance layer, so the character screen, sleeping bodies (ai-exitsleeping) and other scripts dress peds with whichever clothing script runs.
- You can replace it. AI Core also works with tgiann-clothing, illenium-appearance, qb-clothing, crm-appearance, rcore_clothing and bl_appearance. Any of them makes ai-appearance unneeded: AI Core tells you in the console to remove it. See Compatibility.
Known limits
- No tattoos, outfits, wardrobe, clothing as items, per-item prices, ped models or store ownership.
- Job uniforms put on by other scripts (AI Core's
WearOutfit) are never saved; the saved look comes back withReloadSkinor the next login. - Clothing that exists only in the GTA V Enhanced edition is left out of the catalog (it shows broken on FiveM Legacy).
